Boyne City Schools selects candidates for second superintendent interview
The Boyne City Board of Education selected two candidates to bring back for second interviews on Wednesday, July 21.
The interview schedule for the candidates on Wednesday, July 21, is:
6:30-7:30 p.m. Susan Wooden, Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, Owosso Public Schools, Owosso
7:45-8:45 p.m. Peter Moss, Superintendent, Hart Public Schools, Hart
All interviews are open to the public and will be held in the Boardroom, Early Childhood Building, 321 South Park Street.
School Board President Ken Schrader noted the difficulty the board had in narrowing down the candidates to be selected for a second interview. “All four candidates we interviewed had very high qualifications and were eager to be our next superintendent,” he said.
The board originally had 28 applications for the post which is being vacated by Bob Alger who is taking a position with Charlevoix-Emmet Intermediate School District but will continue to serve as interim superintendent until the position is filled.
With assistance from Charlevoix-Emmet Intermediate School District, which is coordinating the search, a brochure for the position was mailed to all school districts in the state, and advertisements were on state and national websites.
Five forums were held – three with school staff, one with administrators, and one for the community – to gather input on qualities the community is seeking in their
superintendent. Comments ranged from finding a candidate who is comfortable in a smaller town setting to having good communication and listening skills to someone with a vision to take the district to the next level.
