Boyne City’s Water Street Dock Over A Century Ago
Boyne City’s Water Street Dock Over A Century Ago
By Bob Morgridge![]()
The photograph was probably taken on a Sunday morning. This judgment is based on the fact that the passenger steamers are at rest, the sun reflecting off the ships and the attire of the two men. Normally, people only dressed up on Sunday. It must have rained during the night because the sails have been hoisted to dry. In the left-center is the steamer RHOCEAN owned by Captain George Thompson and his son, Claude. In 1904, the RHOCEAN hauled passengers and freight between Boyne and Charlevoix and was chartered on the weekends for excursions.
