Camp Daggett Seeks Teams for 2nd Annual Eco-Challenge
Camp Daggett Adventure Center (CDAC) is seeking teams for the 2nd annual Eco-Challenge, scheduled for Sunday, October 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Originally scheduled for Saturday, September 18, the Eco-Challenge is moving to October 17 in respect of the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur. The CDAC team thanks community members, sponsors and supporting organizations for understanding the decision to reschedule the event, and hope that no inconvenience has been caused by the change.
The Eco-Challenge is a light-hearted competition and fundraiser for the Adventure Center at Camp Daggett. Up to 15 teams of 6 individuals each will work together to complete an Eco-Challenge course including canoeing, rock wall climbing, a scavenger hunt and a zip line. Teams can be a mix of six men and women age 18 and over. All skill levels accepted. Registration opens at 10:00 am with the competition beginning at 10:45 a.m. The competition ends at 4:00 p.m. with a dinner for all participants.
Eleven teams enjoyed the challenge as well as the natural beauty of Camp Daggett and Walloon Lake in 2009. The winning team was Northern Michigan Sports Medicine. Team captain Margaret Bowers said, “We were not sure what the day would bring, but the thrill of each challenge energized us to work harder and work together.” All teams agreed it was fun and challenging and encourage more teams for 2010.
The cost to participate is $450 per team, a minimum of $75 per person. Teams can pre-register for the Eco-Challenge by calling Karen Marietti at 231-347-9742 Ext. 117 or visiting www.campdaggett.org to download a registration form. Participants are encouraged to wear active outdoor footwear and clothing and bring a change of casual clothes for dinner.
